How We Seal:

1.  Prep Time

  • Clean and prepare the surface by sweeping, degreasing, and filling cracks.

  • Remove any old sealer if present, and

  • If the cement is new.  Allow the concrete to cure completely.  If the concrete is new.  There is at least a 28 day waiting period.

  • Apply the new sealer with a sprayer or roller, ideally two thin coats with proper drying time in between, and allow it to cure before use

 

2. Prepare the surface 

  • Clean thoroughly: Sweep away all dirt and debris. Deep clean the surface to remove any grease, oil, or paint.

  • Repair cracks: Fill any deep cracks with a crack filler and ensure the surface is completely dry.

  • Protect surroundings: Use painter's tape or remove baseboards to protect them from the sealer.

 

3.   Remove existing sealer (if necessary) 

  • Use a chemical stripper or sandblasting to strip off any old, existing sealer.

  • Scrape off any sludge and dispose of it properly. 

 

4.  Apply the sealer 

  • Choose the right conditions: 

  • Check the temperature: The ideal temperature is between 50 degrees and 90 degrees with no rain, fog, or heavy dew expected for at least 24 hours after sealing. 

  • Apply the first coat: Use a roller or sprayer to apply a thin, even coat. Avoid applying a thick layer, which can cause bubbles.

  • Wait for the first coat to dry: Allow the first coat to dry completely. The time varies by product, but is typically 2-4 hours.

  • Apply the second coat: Apply the second coat in a direction perpendicular to the first coat for full coverage.

  • Allow to cure: Keep foot traffic off for at least 24 hours and heavy items off for up to 72 hours, or as recommended by the manufacturer

 

5. Cure and maintain

  • Allow to cure: Keep foot traffic off the surface for at least 24 hours and vehicle traffic for at least 7 days, depending on the product.

  • Reapply as needed: Reapply the sealer every few years, depending on the type of sealer and the amount of wear it receives.
